In order for this to be a community event, we need the community to participate. Aside from racing crews, we also need volunteers to help plan and produce the race. Anyone interested in helping, can join our Discord, and begin planning the next race.
We need to figure out the race route. This involves figuring out where the race will start and finish. There will be waypoints along the race course, that ships must astrogate to, before continuing on, and of course, where the ships should be required to land and swap cargo.
Along with the race course, the Official Rules need to be worked out. Some of the basic rules can be found around the website, but we need to decide what happens in the event that no one actually finishes the race, or there’s a tie, and every other possible contingency. The race will be what we make it.
Several roles have been set up, in order to make sure the race takes place, with as few problems as possible.[/text_block]
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]Anyone who is interested, can help plan the race. This includes figuring out the exact route the racers will take, and what they will be required to do at each Depot. Where will the waypoints be, and what will the racers be required to do, in order to properly astrogate them? For example, CR2 might be a waypoint. How must each ship make the turn, in order to be legal? At what point past the turn, will they be allowed to jump to Quantum Drive? These are the sorts of things the Planning group will come up with.[/text_block]
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]The Setup group will ensure that the day of the race, everything is ready. They will be tasked with getting Race Officials to their positions, and making sure they have everything they need. The role of Setup will be defined as the race course and the rules are determined.[/text_block]
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]This group will work with every group. They will figure out how to get everything into place so that the race can happen. Without this group, the race simply can’t take place.[/text_block]
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]These are mainly influencers in the Star Citizen community. Their job is to let the community know about the race, and inspire excitement about it. They will create the commercials and imagery that will be distributed to the community at large.[/text_block]
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]For a race this large, we are going to need a lot of people with the ability to stream live feeds that the Control Room can use to broadcast the race. They won’t be on camera, or doing commentary, their job is to follow the races, and show what’s happening live, as it happens.[/text_block]
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]These are the referees. At least one Race Official will be posted at each Way Point and Depot, to note any infractions of the rules. A Race Official must have a very good grasp of what the rules are, so that they can determine a valid move from a foul, by any ship in their area. They must be completely impartial judges of the race.[/text_block]
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]The Race Committee is in charge of the race. They will determine what the rules are, and assess penalties if the rules are infringed. Race Officials will communicate infractions of the rules to the Race Committee, and the Committee will set the penalty if warranted. This group will have an excellent understanding of the course, and the rules.[/text_block]
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]Anyone who is interested, can volunteer for any position. A person can hold more than one position, as long as the positions don’t conflict, and the person can adequately perform each role. This is a community event, put on by the community, for the community. The more people who help put it on, the better the race will be.

More roles may become available as we start to put the race together. We are at the absolute beginning stages of the race, so you have the chance to do what interests you most.
